Background

T.S. is a high-impact software developer and educator with a 15-year track record in the global technology ecosystem. His career is marked by scaling developer platforms from infancy to massive market dominance.

Notably, he was a foundational member of the Developer Experience team at a leading open-source backend infrastructure startup, where he helped grow the platform from 800 databases to over 1 million. He later led DevRel efforts at a leading voice AI startup, before joining one of the hyperscalers to focus on its LLM developer ecosystem.

T.S. holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science & Media and has extensive experience in developer relations, open-source contribution, and technical education.

Initial Problems

The "Marketing" Misconception: USCIS often misclassifies Developer Relations as a standard marketing or sales function.

We faced the challenge of proving that T.S.s work is not just about driving "sign-ups" for a particular corporation, but about building the critical technical tissue that allows the U.S. AI economy to function.

Translating a new role in the developer world into something USCIS officers can understand: Developer Experience and Advocacy are very new roles and endeavors from the typical software engineering cases that USCIS officers are accustomed to reviewing.

We needed to bridge the gap by translating community engagement into hard developer relations metrics, translating company specific KPIs and northstar metrics of his role in such as database creation rates and activation rates, to communicating his work into something that can be understood by layman, and establish that he is well positioned to develop his endeavor according to Dhanasar standard for National Importance.

Our Work

1) Framing the Endeavorfor AI Sovereignty and Infrastructure

We shifted the narrative from "helping a big tech company" to Advancing U.S. Global Competitiveness in Generative AI.

We argued that the U.S. lead in AI depends not just on the models themselves, but on the developer accessibility of those models. Without leaders like T.S.developer advocacy efforts, feedback to product & engineering teams in creating the SDKs, documentation, and championing the necessary middlewares to be developed to advance developer friendliness, the U.S. AI sector faces a deployment bottleneck.

We positioned his endeavor as a mission to eliminate this bottleneck, ensuring that U.S. startups can build Agentic AI solutions with zero friction, thereby maintaining a strategic advantage over international competitors.

2) Establishing "Well-Positioned" via Ecosystem Scaling Metrics

To prove T.S. is uniquely qualified to advance this endeavor, we focused on explaining how T.S. has excelled in pushing technical KPIs that demonstrate his ability to scale a developer ecosystem:

Documentation Visits: We documented how T.S.s overhaul of developer onboarding experience and constant revamp of developer documents led to a 500% increase on top of sizable, 50k+ monthly first time visits to essential developer documents to get users to start experimenting with ecosystems he championed.

Scale ofImpact(MAD - Monthly Active Developers): We highlighted his role in growing an open-source backend database platform's user base by 125,000% (800 to 1M+). We translated this into "Infrastructure Resilience," proving that he has the rare ability to build developer ecosystems that support the massive load requirements of the modern U.S. web.

3) Deepening Developer Relations as a National Priority:

To fulfill the requirement of deepening developer relations in the U.S., we provided specific examples of his proposed impact:

Cross-Pollinating ecosystem of U.S.Tech Giants: We showcased his past work in championing strategic integrations between Stripe, Netlify, Vercel, and Firebase and developing necessary documents for developersease of use. We argued that his future work will involve creating similar "interoperability efforts" between AI models and major hyperscalers, advancing the goal of widening AI adoption from developers across ecosystems.

Open-Source Stewardship: By highlighting his various roadshows, curation and creation of developer events, global hackathons for hyperscalers he worked with, we showcased T.S.s ability to contribute to the cause of Advancing U.S. Global Competitiveness in Generative AI by anchoring on his plans to create and host multiple developer centric events and conferences to champion the cause.
