N.B. is a corporate development and financial advisory leader specializing in buy-and-build transaction execution, financial due diligence, and capital deployment across multi-region markets. Holding a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Corporate Finance from a top-tier public research university and qualified as a Chartered Accountant through a premier international accountancy institute, N.B. built an extensive track record directing complex M&A operations. N.B. previously served as Corporate Development Manager for a global testing, inspection, certification, and compliance conglomerate backed by private equity, spearheading end-to-end transaction workflows for over ten international acquisitions. 

N.B. subsequently served as M&A Director for one of the “Big Fourtransaction advisory practices, leading consolidation strategies. N.B. initially relocated from the UK to the USA on an O-1A visa to execute cross border capital deployment and later obtained an EB-1A green card based on original contributions to mergers and acquisitions advisory.

Initial Problems 

Distinguishing Deal Execution from Standard Corporate Advisory: Adjudicators often characterize transaction execution and corporate development as routine business management rather than field shifting technical contributions. The petition required proving that N.B. proving that he had led major M&A transaction advisory projects that create economic impact. 

Establishing Critical Leadership Across Complex Organizational Structures: Operating within private equity portfolio companies in a deal advisory capacity required strong internal and industry leader recognitions to contextualise the significance of his M&A work.

Our Work 

Substantiating Original Contributions using landmark M&A projects: We collaborated with N.B. to highlight his critical role in landmark M&A transactions he worked on: 

M&A transactions in niche Industrial and Food and Life Sciences end-markets: N.B. played leadership roles in the deal teams for 6 transactions in these niche industries. Importantly, he was responsible for difficult negotiations in post term-sheet purchasing price adjustments, structuring seller earn-outs in two of these marquee transactions which almost didnt happen without N.B.s inputs. We were able to contextualize these scenarios in layman terms, and secured 4 Partner-level references from the private equity funds he advised in those transactions to highlight his role. Importantly, we heavily anchored the narrative not on N.B. being ‘anotherM&A professional, but rather highlighted the pivotal roles that he played behind the scene to see these landmark transactions through in the industry. 

Proving the Critical Role of Distinguished Entities: We compiled extensive evidence demonstrating that N.B. held vital positions within the M&A transaction advisory practices he worked for. We established that N.B. played the leadership role in multiple M&A deal teams that amounted to >US$4 billion enterprise value in transactions, and how N.B. is mission critical to the M&A practice as a fee earner. 

Benchmarking Executive Compensation: To satisfy the high remuneration criterion, we gathered independent wage surveys from global M&A advisory recruitment studies. Importantly, we managed the salary benchmarking to be against M&A advisory professionals, not to be confused with fund management professionals, to show that N.B. is amongst the top 5% of earners in comparable roles. 

Securing High-Stature Independent Testimonials: We obtained reference letters from private equity partners, managing directors, and corporate finance scholars confirming that N.B.'s work in financial due diligence and pricing mechanics constituted major original contributions to the corporate development work he championed

Approved under the EB-1A Extraordinary Ability category without any Request for Evidence. Successfully established that private equity transaction execution and financial due diligence methodologies constitute original contributions of major significance. 

Secured permanent residency approval, transitioning N.B. from an O-1A visa to an EB-1A green card, establishing N.B. as an elite leader in the United States mergers and acquisitions landscape.
